Introduction:

Thirteen hundred years ago, in Tang Dynasty, the famous poet Lee Bai wrote many beautiful poems. In his piece, “月下獨酌“ – “The Lonely Poet Drinks in the Moonlight”, he described his loneliness. However, he was comforted because he knew the universe and nature would keep his soul company.

“The Lonely Poet Drinks in the Moonlight”                            Lee Bai

Alone in the flowerbed, I drink a pot of wine,

I invite the moon to join me by raising my cup as a sign,

The moon, my shadow, and myself; there are three of us combined,

But the ways of drinking the moon dose not know,

And the shadow only follows me wherever I go,

But let us have fun together, the way only friends know.

My song makes the moon sway,

My dance makes my shadow gay,

We always have fun together whenever I am awake,

But when I am drunk, we three separate,

The moon, shadow, and I are best friends forever,

Wherever we are, in the heavenly clouds, we will always meet together.
